This master thesis is a study of test methods for determination of uplift resistance of fixed roof tiles, which currently are under preparation to become a European standard. This work also includes a study of wind load mechanisms for roof tiles.This is an important character sincce the existing wind loading codes in Scandinavia, Finland and Estonia does not consider these mechanisms and the draft prestandard does not give any guidance in how to calculate the wind load.
A study of the British wind loading code shows that the uplift loads that acts on roof tiles calculated with this method are about one third to half of the loads if calculated with normal wind loading code.
